Summary

RYAN

She’s a distraction, that’s what she is。

I’m the newest Captain of the Devils, Chicago’s NBA team, and the last thing I needed this year was for Indy Ivers, my sister’s best friend, to move into my apartment。 She’s messy, emotional, and way too tempting。

But when the team’s General Manager vocalizes his blatant disapproval of my promotion to Captain, referring to me as an unapproachable lone wolf with no work-life balance, I can’t think of a better way to convince him otherwise than pretending to date my outgoing roommate。

The only problem? Faking it feels far too natural。

Having a fake girlfriend wasn’t supposed to be messy but having Indy under my roof and in my bed is complicated, especially when she wants all the romantic parts of life that I could never give her。

INDY

I never imagined I’d be living with my best friend’s brother, NBA superstar Ryan Shay。 Even more unbelievable? He needs me to act as his loving girlfriend who’s suddenly changed him into a friendly and approachable guy。

Because, well…he’s not。 He’s controlling of his space and untrusting of others。

Our arrangement isn’t one-sided, though。 I’m in a wedding coming up, one where every one of my childhood friends, including my ex-boyfriend, will be in attendance, and there’s no better date than my ex’s celebrity hero。

Blurred lines make it almost impossible to separate real from fake。 Falling for my roommate was never part of the deal, especially when Ryan is quick to remind me that he doesn’t believe in love。

I’m a romantic and can’t help fantasizing that he’ll change, but soon enough, I find myself questioning if sharing a roof with my best friend’s brother was the right move after all

PerfectionI am wary about booktok popular recs bc I have been so disappointed in the past, but this one right here was amazing! If I could give more stars I would。 This had chemistry, banter, bffs, sweet, sexy, funny。。。 literally everything you want in a romance。 And that epilogue was ahhhh。 I will be reading the previous and next book in this series。

Ugh。 UGH。 Words cannot express how much I loved this book。 It made me laugh, cry, and fan myself from all the tension🫠First of all。 Ryan Shay? RYAN。 SHAY?!?! Look, I completely understand that he’s a fictional character but when I tell you I am OBSESSED with this man。 Dear god。 I don’t say this lightly, but he is officially my #1 book boyfriend in contemporary romance。 He is PERFECTION。 A man guarding his heart, who doesn’t let anyone in other than his twin sister, but really is just a big freak Ugh。 UGH。 Words cannot express how much I loved this book。 It made me laugh, cry, and fan myself from all the tension🫠First of all。 Ryan Shay? SIGN。 ME。 UP。 I just want to say that the tension in this book is literally some of the best I’ve read。 The connection and chemistry between Indy and Ryan is off the charts and I ate that shit UP。 I devoured it like I was starving。 Also, the nickname BLUE? I’m swooning。 Indy has easily become one of my favorite FMCs。 With contemporary romance, I find that a lot of the female leads can be super annoying especially with their inner-dialogue。 But Indy? My sweet Indy? She could never。 She’s a literal queen。 I saw so much of myself in her (minus the extrovert part) and I just adored her in every way。 She was so badass even though she had so many insecurities。 The way she became her best self with Ryan just had me cheering for her the entire time。 I freaking love them, man 🥹🏀 basketball romance❤️ fake dating💥 forced proximity🛏️ one bedThis book was everything。 EVERYTHING。 If you were thinking about reading this series— DO IT。 even if it’s just for Ryan Shay, and Ryan Shay alone。 He’s that perfect。 。。。more

Ryan Shay is THE FUCKING STANDARD。 I love him。 I thought this book was going to be boring because of how long it is and many books this long have many unnecessary details but I WAS SO WRONG。 This was so freaking good

Corey Logan

My biggest issue with this book is that Ryan Shay isn’t real。 Holy hell。 This will be one of my favourite sports romance of all time。 I laughed out loud。 I cried。 I had a huge stupid grin on my face。 And good lord the steam was top shelf。 To say I’m obsessed is an understatement。 I could not put it down。 I stayed up far too late binging this beauty。 I cannot wait for Kai’s story。 “ Sometimes the quietest love is the loudest” ……。melt my heart

I honestly didn’t think the 2nd book in this series would be as good as “Mile High” but I was WRONG。 This book over exceeded my expectations and I am now in love with a fictional basket ball player named Ryan Shay。 Read this book。 That is all

Prefacing this with “it’s me, not you” bc I had to have missed something looking at all these reviews - I hate to give this a 3 bc I REALLY enjoyed the Mile High but I almost DNF’ed multiple times on this one。 I liked Ryan/Indy but I just could not deal with the constant will they-won’t they。 I know drama/angst drive most romances, so I can’t really explain why I was so frustrated with this one。 It felt like there was SUCH a big lead up to them getting together just for it to fall apart after 2 Prefacing this with “it’s me, not you” bc I had to have missed something looking at all these reviews - I hate to give this a 3 bc I REALLY enjoyed the Mile High but I almost DNF’ed multiple times on this one。 I liked Ryan/Indy but I just could not deal with the constant will they-won’t they。 I know drama/angst drive most romances, so I can’t really explain why I was so frustrated with this one。 It felt like there was SUCH a big lead up to them getting together just for it to fall apart after 2 chapters, a reconciliation, then another breakdown, rinse, repeat… the highs of their get together didn’t outweigh the lows for me。 。。。more

The tension, the drama and the ending was perfection。 。。。more

Ryan was such a good character from the previous book and I loved seeing how he opened up slowly to Indy。I'm a sucker for the grumpyxsunshine trope so this one was easily a 5 stars。I loved Ryan and Indy's chemistry and how teased each other! My favorite parts were when Ryan showed his jealousy but remaining respectful and without causing a scene。 The best part in this book is probably Ryan's character: he is calm and collect and doesn't pressure Indy even when he is dying to call her! And he is also very thoughtful and attentive! The only thing is that I feel like the 3rd act break up wasn't necessary in this story, but, otherwise, it was perfection。 。。。more

After so many DNF's wow, I'm utterly impressed。Liz Tomforde never misses, banger after banger。 I loved this book so much。 I especially love how the author never perpetuates toxic masculinity in her books, it is truly refreshing。 I love the first book more but this was just as well written。Favorite book of the year so far。 After so many DNF's wow, I'm utterly impressed。Liz Tomforde never misses, banger after banger。 I loved this book so much。 I especially love how the author never perpetuates toxic masculinity in her books, it is truly refreshing。 I love the first book more but this was just as well written。Favorite book of the year so far。 。。。more
